Senior Packaging/Print Production Artist

FAI Design Group is an Award Winning Brand Design Agency based in Irvington, New York. We are offering an exciting opportunity to join an established organization with many high profile clients. The ideal candidate is responsible for supporting the creative team’s print production needs. The Senior Packaging/Print Production Artist would adapt established designs into the construction of visually consistent, print-ready Adobe Illustrator / InDesign mechanical files. The challenge of this position lies in the Production Designer's ability to adapt designs and build mechanicals simultaneously, which requires equal parts design sense and technical proficiency.

EXPERIENCE & SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS (we need you to have)

Must be an experienced Senior Packaging/Print Production Artist who can seamlessly join a highly productive and fast paced studio environment, juggling multiple projects within tight deadlines while producing technically correct, print-ready mechanicals. Must be a team player that is fast, meticulous and organized. You will be working closely with Creative Team and Account Management. This role requires an understanding and strong foundation of design principles, a keen eye for detail, and the ability of making sure the creative vision is carried out efficiently, consistently and accurately.

Minimum 8+ years of experience as a Senior Packaging/Print Production Artist with extensive experience in Private Label, Licensed & Home Brands, Food & Beverage, Retail Packaging, Retail Signage & Environments. Must have agency, in-house or retail print production experience.

  • Undergraduate college degree required

  • Expert Adobe Illustrator production skills

  • Expert level proficiency in MAC environment

  • Extensive experience in print production

  • Designer's sensibility for typography and layout

  • Love for the technical side of design

  • Ability to produce independently in a team environment

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn existing and new workflows

JOB RESPONSIBILITY (we need you to do)

  • Ensure design objectives and print specifications align with project requirements and technical parameters

  • Take ownership, lead initiatives and maintain & organize large projects

  • Review client provided dielines for accuracy

  • Revisions / corrections to existing mechanicals

  • Creating print test with variables to assess quality and color on various substrates

  • Some direct client contact

  • Able to create mechanical templates for line extensions

  • Skilled at reviewing print production proofs and attending press runs

  • Reports directly to Design Director

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Receptionist will play a key role as he/she will:

  • Serve as the first point of contact with our clients.

  • Manage the reception area to ensure effective telephone and mail communications, and to maintain company’s professional image.

  • Manage shipping and receiving

  • Manage procurement, delivery, and disbursement of supplies, and equipment for office.

  • General support to studio management and internal departments

  • Responsible for researching and booking travel for employees including executive team

GRAPHIC DESIGN MENTORSHIP

SCHEDULE
The internship schedule is flexible. The schedule is usually two to four days per week, for full workdays. Although this is an unpaid internship, we will provide recommendations and referrals as well as valuable real-world design experience.
